Apple seems to always be one step ahead of other technology companies. Their latest move that has been revealed is a patent for a “Protective Mechanism for an Electronic Device” which would sense when your phone is free falling and use a gas or other mechanism to shift the velocity so that your iPhone won’t fall face first, one of the most painful experiences in technology. The application was actually filed in September 2011, so if they’re still working on it hopefully we’ll be seeing this technology come to life soon.
